FAQs
How often should I attend therapy?
Clients are asked to commit to weekly or bi-weekly appointments at the start of therapy. Research shows that consistent counselling is key in facilitating long term change. This allows for greater accountability to the process, for the therapeutic relationship to flourish and change to take root.
How long will I be in therapy?
The answer to this question depends, but for the most part, if you are engaging in therapy to address childhood experiences, relationship patterns, trauma, or long-held views of self, therapy is most successful when engaged in a long-term format of over a year. With that being said, I believe our healing is an ongoing, lifelong journey, and we will likely work with different therapists and healers throughout our lifetime, and we need different approaches during different seasons. Ultimately, you get to decide how long you engage in therapy.
What is your cancellation policy?
I require a minimum of 48 hours notice for all cancellations. This includes rescheduling appointments, and cancellations due to sickness or emergencies. I offer one free late cancellation to all clients, however, after the late cancellation fee is the full session fee.
Do you offer reduced-fee or sliding scale sessions?
I have limited space for reduced-fee counselling, and currently, all spots are filled. If you are seeking reduced-fee therapy, please see here and here. If you'd like to be added to my waitlist for reduced-fee therapy, email hello@tay-evans.com.
Is therapy covered under benefits?
Therapy offered by a Registered Clinical Counsellor or masters-level therapist is often covered by extended insurance plans. I encourage you to contact your insurance provider directly to confirm your level of coverage.
Do you offer direct billing?
No, I do not offer direct billing. After each session I will provide an invoice with my registration number (RCC #20368) that you can submit for reimbursement to your insurance company.
What is your email response time?
Please expect a response time of one week for non-urgent emails. Urgent emails I try to respond to within 48-hours. Please note: I am not crisis counsellor. If you are in criss and in need of urgent care, call 911, your local crisis line, or get yourself to a hospital.
